Noises problem
2006 Infiniti G35 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 43600 miles

I have an 06 G35 AWD and purchased it used recently. There are a few minor signs that it might have been in a bump up and never recorded as such but I cannot be certain. At any rate, the vehcile handles well and does well but one thing bothers me. Often upon starting out it makes an annoying creaking noise that seems to come underneath, passenger side front when initially braking or hitting minor bumps. Sometimes it seems to come mid to rear but most often the passenger front. I don't notice it when drivng normally after starting although it may do it occasionally. It just creaks and I have had one shop look and could not find anything. They stated that they lubricated the bushings but it did not resolve the issue. Any thoughts?

It is a 3.5 Liter 6 cyl and I believe it to be an X. It is AWD. The creak is the best description of the sound and often times it seems related to braking.

Hello –

First, congrats on your new car………..very nice looking.

Next, try checking CarFax below and that should tell you the history on the car……or at least it is pretty reliable.

http://www.carfax.com/

Okay………what it may be is the compression rod. Below is a pic of it. There is a Technical Service bulletin on “NOISE FROM FRONT COMPRESSION ROD” This may be the problem.

NOISE FROM FRONT COMPRESSION ROD
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
Reference Number(s): ITB08-013, Date of Issue: March 10, 2008
INFINITI: 2004 - 2006 G35 Coupe; 2004 - 2006 G35 Sedan
CLASSIFICATION: FA08-001
APPLIED VEHICLES: 2004 - 2006 G35 Coupe (CV35); 2004 - 2006 G35 Sedan (V35)

ARTICLE BEGINNING
IF YOU CONFIRM

There is a noise coming from the front compression rod.

And

The bushing is damaged.

ACTIONS

Replace only the bushing, not the compression rod assy. for this issue.

I would have the shop you took it to check out this TSB to see if this is the problem and then if it is refer to the TSB for the repair.

If that isn’t it let me know and we will try to look at other things.
