Need to remove the interior panel and inspect the latch assembly,Im thinking a plastic connector broke and the rod wont release. Can you hear it make noise when you try to release it with the button?

Try manually pulling on the cables where they hook to the mechanism to see if you can make them release the latch

The black arrow is able to be moved to lock or unlock the mechanism...the red arrow does not rotate when the button is pressed to lock or unlock...it does wiggle when the lock/unlock button is pressed.

The two cables above the actuator, try moving them to se if the latches will release. Sounds like the lock actuator may be bad or the latch assembly (motor)

pulling the cables doesn't help. It appears that the lock actuator and motor are one piece. If this is so, then I might try replacing this assembly. Like I mention when you press the lock/unlock the lock actuator wiggles but does not engage.
