Engine Performance problem
2006 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 42100 miles

I have an 06 rendezvous which goes through periods of poor running, rough idle, poor response. Since the milage had been low I would simply put in some injector cleaner and things would get better. But the symptoms would return soon after. After repeating this process many times, I figured I would replace the fuel filter. I bought the filter and went under the car to replace it. I have done this job on many other cars and do know what the filter looks like. My cardid not have a fuel filter. I went to the dealership and got the print out of where it was suppose to be located and found that the factory just ran a staight tube instead putting in a filter. Whats the worst damage that can be present as a result of no filter for the past 42000 miles. Thanks.
