Engine Performance problem
2006 Buick La Crosse 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 138500 miles

I know that cars are getting better in quality every year but I was wondering if a late model car with this many miles is still okay to purchase? If I do buy this car, which is at a great price, do I need to get anything checked out first or since they are highway miles will there be very few problems?

Get a CARFAX report. Have your local dealer check the VIN on their VIS system. Expect to encounter transmission problems if it hasn't been overhauled or replaced yet. I usually have to rebuild them by 150K.
