Computer problem
2005 Other Nissan Models 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 55,000 miles

Twice while stopped (car in drive, foot on brake) my engine has started surging to the extent that I turned the car off, afraid of losing control. This had never happened before, but has happened twice in the past week. I called Nissan's emergency number and they advised me not to drive the vehicle.

I sopke with the service manager at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, and he indicated that they would have to try to replicate the problem, or perhaps the computer would have registered a code when it happened. This seems unlikely, as no error message was displayed. This is a fairly new vehicle with low mileage. I did find a similar problem reported on an Australian X-Trail site. That person had a brand new vehicle, and Nissan solved the problem by replacing the computer.

Thoughts? Advice?
