Earlier I knoticed a knock in the engine . we checked the oil it was a little low so i put a quart of oil on the knock still persists. what could this be

Could be a bearing noise or it may be carbon build up on the pistons.I would take it to your mechanic to have it looked at, dont want to do any un-necessary damage to the engine depending on what it is
