2005 Kia Optima 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 80000 miles

I'm unsure exactly WHERE the problem is, but last night I broke down. I was doing around 55 on the hwy when it felt as if I went from 4th to 1st gear. There was a slight jolt feeling and a definite 'power down' noise. Sorry, that's as descriptive as I can get. The engine light came on first, followed quickly by the oil, temp and battery lights. Within 50 yards I could pull over, and at that time the steering became rough. I turned off the engine. It would not restart, but the a/c, radio, windows, etc., worked fine. It just wouldn't start. I wasn't out of gas, nothing looked out of place under the hood and there was no smell. Any ideas? Thanks, Mel
