2005 Jeep Cherokee

SO, i was driving my drunk friend home and when i was turing she thru it into reverse and my car locked, now when i drive it it makes a wierd noise and kinda jerks when i put it into drive or reverse. I was thinking it was my transmission. whats the worse that it could be and how much would it be to fix. i had to turn my car off and start it agian to get it to work again when it was happening.
