Engine Cooling problem

i thought that my hose had busted where it mounts
below the coolant temp sensor. but when i tried to take the hose off right behind the pully the whole piece came off where you clamp the hose to it.so i took the sensor off and unscrewed the sensor housing and had to go to a dealer to get the part now my problem is i have got to take parts loose to get the new housing on sense it is how longer with the piece that the hose mounts to is on the new unit can someone walk me thru what and how to take loose to replace this unit
