Engine Performance problem
2005 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 42000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 2005 Ford Ranger FX4 with the 4.0L V6 w/ 42000miles. I bought the truck with 14,000 miles on it. I have noticed a very slight hesitation from a light take off, no big deal. I have had the truck almost two years, and just to see if it would fix it, i changed fuel filter, plugs, wires, MAF, EGR, IAC and TPS. No change at all. I also changed the transmission fluid and filter and still no change. The hesitation isnt that noticeable so its no big deal. My question is, not too long ago, i took the throttle body off to clean it and took a LED scope light to look inside the intake manifold and saw a puddle of oil. Took some CRC Intake Cleaner and cleaned up the intake manifold with it. That fixed the problem and didnt hesitate at all for almost 2 months. Still the hesistate isnt that big. So, would i have a intake manifold gasket leaking? The oil looks great if that helps. The old spark plugs that were in the truck looked brand new. I dont hear any vaccum leaks. The truck gets 19mpg and runs like a champ. I am putting my money on intake gasket, but i wanted to ask you guys. Thanks, Chris OH the reason the truck was sold, was because it didnt have enough power to pull a trailer and was traded for a F-150. Thought maybe, even though the ATF fluid looked brand new still, if that could be possible transmission problems due to trying to pull too much.

you may just have a bad pcv valve, those are usually very inexpensive, i would go with that first
