Brakes problem
2005 Ford Freestyle 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 70000 miles

I am changing rear brakes how do I get piston to retract?

NOTE:The LH caliper piston turns clockwise and the RH caliper piston turns counterclockwise

Ok you have what it know as a ratcheting caliper. Meaning that the e-brake is incorperated in the caliper. A screw is turned as you pull the ebake to set it. Now if you look at the piston there should be marks in it where a tool will fit (the tool is a square block that allow's you to turn the piston). You need to get this tool and turn the piston and then push it in and turn it and squeeze it and repeat till it collapsed to put it back together. Now when you are done you will push the brake pedal (not all the way to the floor) till you get brake pressure and then use the e-brake to adjust it from there by holding the button and pulling and releasing around 10 times or so. Thats it done. Here is a pic of the tool
