Engine Performance problem

Installed a air intake system. Test drove it and the engine light came on. The vehicle would turn off a 3-4 rpms, or when i passed 20 mph and even at 35mph. Took it to get checked and they told me that eathier the mass air sensor was bad or even the 02 senors also. But when i had the stock intake in it never did any such thing, till I installed this air intake system. The system is like a K&N system but another brand name.I even put the regular one back on and it drove fine. So what do i do. What could be the real problem?
