Electrical problem
2005 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 108000 miles
Hello, Had a horriable day at the gas station.
We have had problems with our alarm since we bought it and just dont use it at all. By a mistake I hit the door lock switch and the alarm set. OMG>>>
I tried to disarm the truck and it just wouldnt work. THe alarm kept going off and on. I tried to disconnect it by the steering column under the dash and it made it worse. So finally I took out the horn fuse just to get it to stop and so I could start the truck. I found later on this evening that the rear tail lights keep flashing. I was wondering why people were honking at me. Now I know....
I called the dealer they told me I had to get it reprgrammed and also get a new alarm key for 135.00. I didnt want to do that because we barley make it by as it is. I was wondering if you could let me know is there a way that I can disconnect my factory alarm and how do I do that? I would love to have my horn back and my rear lights to stop flashing. In the meantime I had to disconnect the battery. OH I also did disconnect the battery to see if it would help. Nope still a alarm.... PLEASE HELP!!! Im a single mom and I need help in this.
Thank you

The alarm systems are run through the PCM and I believe can be disarmed. However, a dealer would have to do it for you. However, if you take it to the dealer, I would recommend having it repaired so it works properly.
I'm sorry I don't have a better response for you, but a dealership is the only place that will have the proper equipment to work on a factory alarm.
If you have other questions, please let me know.
