2005 Dodge Neon stalling and sputtering over 2000 rpm

Engine Mechanical problem
2005 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 78000 miles

car starts sputtering and cutting out when rpm's are raised over 2000 first started to cut out when first started but now anytime over 2000. just got back from a trip of 1800 miles. no tune up since bought

The exact same thing is happening with my 2005 neon and it is driving me absoluly crazy!! and i dont know about with your car but it doesnt do that 24/7 with my car it will be fine then out of no where it will start doing that for a couple days then it will be perfectly fine again its been going on and off for about 3 months but this last week and a half its been doing it non stop i would really like to know what it is!And mine has 73000 miles on it.

My car was doing the same thing now it works i took it in and had them put the computer on it to tell you why the check engine light was on and they said it was the crank shaft so we got the part about 30 bucks and replaced it and now it works perfectly!! im so glad it wasn't something expensive!
