Electrical problem

when starting the car, I noticed that none of my dash light nor the like was working. The speedometer, the odormeter or none of that was working. The gas gauge also not working. Going down the road, they all came back. Is this a ground problem, and where would I find the main plug so speak to see if it came loose. We do live on a bumpy dirt road, so I don't know if that adds to the problem. Someone suggested an ignition moduler, but, I am sure as to that as everything is gone and then comes back.
