Air Conditioning problem
2005 Chevy Malibu 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I purchased my 2005 Malibu Classic 2 years ago. Living in the southwest air conditioning is essential. So when the light on the a/c button started going on & off and it would blow hot air I took it to the nearest Chevy dealership to have it fixed. That was in 2006. Worked fine until the next year when it got hot again and the same problem cropped up. Took it back to the same place and had it "fixed" again. That was in May 2007 and by Aug 2007 same problem showed up. Got through 2007 and now it is May 2008 and you guessed it same problem. Take it back to the dealership for the 4th time now and they test drive and tell me it did not fail for them but they replaced the HVAC controller again. Then they proceed to tell me this is a common problem in that year Classic, that it was a GM problem and not their issue. When I asked what all the countless other owners of the car were doing the response was "they just keep replacing the part". I do not know about you but that is unacceptable. I have done some internet checking and do not seem to find this huge problem they talk about. Plus it took until the 4th time with the same complaint for them to come up with that reason. That leaves me wondering if they know what they are doing. I had a 13 year old car before this one and although it was a real drain on power to use the ac, I never had this problem. Is there a fix for this and do you know of this as being a "common" problem?
