2005 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 58,000 miles

I own a 05 Malibu Maxx and whenever my speed reaches 40 miles per hour, the engine seems to have a higher "whirling" sound. I do not hear this sound when I am idiling and my acceleration does not seem to be affected. I spoke to several people and they mentioned that my car may not be setting in gear properly or that it may be a throttle positioning sensor. Could you help?

have a professinal drive it and see what it is doing.
