Air Conditioning problem

I have noticed recently that I am hearing my car's air compressor clicking on and off every couple of minutes (every minute when its hot out). I am still getting cold air without any problem. The blowing sound is really loud and is audible from outside of the car. My rpms do not change when it cycles. Can you give me an idea as to what the problem is? Thanks!

its the sound of your compressor's clutch cycling on and off.basically, it is an electro-magnetic switch that turns on and off.the frequency of the cycle depends on the temperature setting that you have chosen. a clicking noise from the clutch is normal during operation.
