Engine Performance problem
2004 Volkswagen Golf 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 39,000 miles

I have a golf 2.0 gt tdi i was driving down the road and my engine lost power. also black smoke came out the back, i thought that i might have put petrol in. I emptied the tank and drove the car it went but loads of black smoke came out. there seems to be no power in my car i am gutted please help???????
