2004 Subaru Outback 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 80000 miles

I have a 2004 Subaru Outback. I recently noticed the under cover hanging down a little. two screws were missing and it had a slight crack. I called dealer for replacement quote after coming up empty at salvage yards. They quoted me $108. i have a hard time paying over $100 for a piece of plastic that small. Is it necessary to replace? i looked in and saw oil filter and drain plug. Im sure they will tell me it is to protect important belts and parts.
