2004 Other Isuzu Models Two Wheel Drive Automatic 107 Km miles

I live in Thailand and have an Isuzu Adventure that is sort of like a Rodeo only a little bigger. Recently when I am parrallel parked and have to start the car and turn the wheels, the power steering completely stops. If I am parked in a place that allows me to simply go forward or back up straight, I have no problems. The problem comes when I have to turn the wheel immediately upon starting. Then the power steering completely goes out for a few seconds until I can get it straight and accelerate.

Check if the fluid level is low and the belt tensions are correct.

If both are ok, then it could be the pump or pressure switch that is faulty.


If the color of the fluid seems very dark or is contaminated, get a flush done.

I have already checked the fluid and everything looks normal. I was a little let down by your answer of "check the fluid, if it's okay it might be the pump." I kind of figured "it might be the pump." What I'd like to know is if this is a common symptom of a bad pump or if there is some other thing that is likely wrong. Why does it only happen when I start the car? Can I expect it to get worse or what?

Sorry if my answers had been deemed as too simple.

We always start with the basics because if we were to provide each and every question with a detailed answer, it is going to take up a lot of time and deprive others of the chance to get an answer. We would usually start with the information provided.

When the system is not working, ie stopped, some valves could get stuck and initial operation does not get it moving till it warms up, this could be due to bad fluid or a loose belt.

To find out if it is the pump that is weak, you need to get a pressure test done on the output of the pump.

If the pump pressure is within specs, you need to check the steering rack/box valve body. It could be internal pressure leakage which requires a rebuilt.
