Engine Mechanical problem
2004 Other GMC Models Four Wheel Drive Automatic 30000 miles

This is a 5 cyl GMC Canyon. When I drive it out of the garage in the morning it starts fine. I drive it for 10 minutes to go shopping and want to start the engine, it just cranks, without turning over. What gives?

One hint: When I try to start the engine, the fuel gage needle turns into the oppsite direction of the fuel level.
