Air Conditioning problem

Since she disconnected the wire, the air blows out hot air. I reconnected a yellow line with a plug to a little round metal thing with a metal piece protruding from it - the protruding piece is where in plugged in the yellow wire plug. There was another metal round thing with a little protruding thing to which I attached a yellow wire plug to it. The air blows out the vents but it's not cold. Can you please help? Thanks in advance.
