Brakes problem
2004 Lincoln LS V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I own a 2004 Lincoln LS. Over the past year, I have had four occasions wherein the anti-lock brakes kick in while on dry pavement. Each time it happens, I hear a feint metal on metal noise immediately prior to pressing the brake pedal. When I press the brake pedal, the anti-lock system responds with, might I add, a grating sound like the whole front end of the car is going to fall off. Braking power decreases to about 25%. Accordingly, I've come very close to causing a few accidents.

It is under factory warranty right now, but as you can imagine, the dealership is unable to recreate the problem and therefore simply throw up their hands in confusion. They think it might be a brake sensor, but because they can't recreate the problem, they do nothing.

I love the car, but can't drive my kids around in it if I'm randomly going to lose the brakes!

Thoughts?

Thanks.
