2004 Ford F250 pewer steering box

Steering problem
2004 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 82,000 miles

While stopped at a gas station my front drivers side tire was hit. Invetigation showed a disconnect at or in the steering box. Is there a sheer pin in that location? What is the best way to remove the box? Do I need to vent the system if I have to replace the box?
