Noises problem
2003 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles

I can hear a rattling noise coming from the engine when I shift into drive. It just started making the noise yesterday. When I raise the hood the noise is not as noticeable. However, I had my wife shift into drive while the hood was open and I noticed the engine actually move forward a few inches. Is this movement normal and can you suggest what could be causing the noise?
