2003 Other Fiat Models Two Wheel Drive Manual 56000 miles

My Fiat Punto just cut out and wont start. It does still have power but makes a ticking noise whenever i turn the key. I pushed it off in 2nd gear and it ran as normal - it just wont start. Is it the battery, the starter motor, or something else?
