2003 Kia Rio 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 113000 miles

Just today while I was driving I noticed that my speedometer is jumping when I am driving down the road. It will say 60 then 23 then 55 then 0 and so on. What could be the cause of this and is it expensive to get fixed?
