Transmission problem

2003 Hyundai Accent Two Wheel Drive Automatic 77,000 miles when I am driving my car it will shift normally through all 4 gears but suddenly when I come to a stop or slow down and start driving, it will jerk & only shift in second and third gear while the RPMs keep going up, but if I stop and turn off the engine for a couple of minutes and then restart it, it will shift normally through all 4 gears again. Also whenever the car is running long (hot engine) this problem will occur. this erratic shifting happens often please help
