Transmission problem
2003 Chrysler Town and Country 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 58000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I started my Town and County this morning and put it in reverse, but when I attempted to back the vehicle it acted as if it was in neutral. I put it back in park, and then reverse again. This time it worked normal. I then put it in drive, and again the transmission acted like it was in neutral. I put it back into park and then back into drive, and then it worked normal again.
I drove the van about three miles and everything seemed normal, with the exception of downshifting. When I slowed down the transmission would shilft to the lower gear real hard, which has not happend unitl now.
I checked the transmission fluid, and the level is correct and the fluid is clean. I bought the van new 08/2003, and I've had it serviced as required. I have not had any problems with the vehicle and I've been very happy with it. Is there a history of these transmissions needing rebuilt with such low miles, and is possible that the problem will be expensive to fix? Any suggestions on the cause? Am I looking at a rebuild?
Thanks,
Mike
