Transmission problem
2003 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 35000 miles

My wifes 2003 Impala with the 3.4l auto has developed a problem. Once in a while after backing out of the driveway and shifting to drive there is a hesitation when you give it gas. The engine revs and there is no forward motion. After a second or two something grabs and there is a clunck and you are then able to move forward. The car is just now turning over 35,000 miles. Seems as if its only happening after sitting overnight or longer. Also, after it warms up it seems to not be an issue.

have you check your transmission fluid lately to see if it is full or burned. it should be a nice red color if it is ok.

After reading some other posts on here I went ahead and had the trannny fluid changed. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.
