Electrical problem
2003 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 82,000 miles

Hi
A month ago my SUV started but the indicators on the dash "zeroed out". I got it home but in the morning it was dead and wouldn't start. The shop said it was a bad battery only - despite the fact the battery was only a year old. They replaced it, and last week - one month later it died again. The tow guy jumped the battery and now the shop can't find the problem.
It started fine and then a day later died in the shop. The next day it started up again and has been fine since so the shop wants me to pick it up. Something's wrong and I don't know if it's the alternator or a short. As a female, I don't want to be driving an unreliable car and have it die on me on the highway or leave me stranded. What should I have them do? Can they tell if it is the alternator so we can start ruling out possibilities?
If the alternator is good can they (or should they) replace the electrical harness as a precaution?
Help!!
Thanks a bunch!
