Air Conditioning problem
2002 Ford Thunderbird V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 71000 miles

There is an evaporator leak and so I must replace the evaporator of my Air conditioning system. This is quite an involved process, requiring the entire dashboard to be removed and the steering column lowered. While the car is all apart, is there an advantage to replacing the heater core as well? Or does its normal life take it wel into the future. It looks fine today. By the way, I'm in Houston Texas, so there's not much use for a heater down here, anyway.
Thanks.
