Engine Performance problem

Hi and thank you so much for your help. I have a 2002 Ford Taurus with a V6 engine, 124,000 miles. Recently while driving on the interstate I noticed that when I was driving at 70mph, that if I tried to accelerate quickly the car would putter or hesitate. After consulting briefly with my father and a mechanic, I replaced the fuel pump and spark plugs. Unfortunately this has not corrected the problem. I have no issues with the car at lower speeds, it runs like a top. But I would like to figure this out before it becomes a serious problem. There are no engine lights or warnings on the dash.
