Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Ford Focus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 85000 miles

When should this be changed? My reapir shop is suggesting changing it because of the number of miles. I have never changed it on any other car I have owned. Is it necessary to change? How will I know when it needs to be changed?
