Engine Performance problem
2001 Ford Focus 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 60,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
The other day, I was driving on the highway when my car would sort of give. It wouldn't accelerate, and started to decelerate. We pulled off the highway as it shuddered, and soon died at an idle. The car turned back on, we heard a sort of marble-sound in the engine, and we drove it a little while (about 2 min.) before it gave out on us again, and died in idle. We pulled to side. It recently has been shipped across America on a truck. Could this have caused anything? From sitting for a week? Also, the air conditioner was just replaced about two months earlier. It has a recent tune-up, and the fuel filter has just been replaced by the mechanics. The car registers no computer signal, but continues to eventually give/ eventually die (especially at high speeds or after driven at high speeds). Please help.

no comp signal? do you mean no check engine light? when it dies does it always restart? does it start right away? Need to know what it is losing when it dies, spark or fuel pressure. If it doesnt start right back up , need to test for these two things when it is dead

There is no check engine light. The car does restart immediately. But it only works a while before dying again. Also, the diagnostics all come out positive... showing nothing wrong. But, obviously SOMETHING is wrong.

Have seen the crank angle sensors in those give fits before, but it would strictly be a guess since it starts right back up

I took my car to Ford (seperate from the original mechanics) and they tested my fuel pressure (which the others said they did). Obviously not, because it ended up being my fuel pump. They replaced it with my 10-year warranty, and it runs beautifully now.
