Transmission problem
1998 Chevy Suburban V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 175000 miles

I have a 98 3500 suburban and need to remove the transfer case to replace the spacer between it and the transmission. I have removed the crossmember directly under the rear of the trans. but there is another crossmember under the back of the transfer case conected to the tortion bars in the front of the truck. I have been told by several people that I don't need to remove the other crossmember to drop the transfer case, but I can't seem to get enough room to even seperate the trans output shaft from the transfer case, let alone remove the spacer from between them.
