Engine Mechanical problem
2002 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 102000 miles
A dealer mechanic has told me that the head gasket on this car should be replaced. There is no check engine light indication, no overheating, no leaking on the garage floor and no performance issues. Is there a way to have the diagnostic center check for a problem with the head gasket? Are there other indicators for a head gasket problem?
Thanks for your help.

There are many indicators. Here is a list:
hard start
misfire
oil and coolant mixing in the engine
coolant leaking from engine
low compression in a given cylender
overheating
What is your car doing that makes them believe the head gasket is bad? |

The only indicator was coolant mixing in the engine (bubbly mixture) that the dealer mechanic showed my wife. None of the other items on your response are apparent.
Thanks for your help.

If the coolant and oil are mixing, chances are you have a bad head gasket. Sorry for the bad news. |
