Transmission problem
2002 Acura RSX 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 106000 miles

It's been gradual to a degree, but now it's gotten pretty bad. I have very little accleration and if I try to press on the gas beyond a little bit, especially after shifting gears, the RPM shoots up to 4-5K. Once I'm at highway speeds I forget about the problem but its very clear in city driving. I've never had the timing belt replaced, but could that be causing such poor acceleration too?
