2001 Saab 9-3 repair Question 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 136000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I took my car in today for and oil change and to get new tires. The mechanic called to tell me that the "right front control arm/ball joint had excessive play." I drive about 80 miles a day, and was told this was a safety hazzard. I told them to fix it. The work order says "removed front right suspension assembly and replaced failed control arm. Reassembled components and test drove vehicle to verify repair."
Driving the car home from the mechanic, the gear shift popped out of gear and the car stalled out. I was able to get the car back into first gear, and drive into a parking lot, but the car stalled out again. Initially the car wouldn't even turn over. After a few minutes, I got the car turned on, but could not get the gearshirft into any gear. I had to jam it into reverse to be able to take the key out of the ignition.
So aside from the obvious question - what did they do to my car -- here's the other thing. This is the second time this year I picked this car up from this mechanic and it died on the way home.
In March the clutch on the car broke. It was towed into the mechanic and a whole new clutch was put in. On the way home that night, the car stalled out. It was towed back to the mechanic, who told me that the problem was a loose fuel line. He said it was just a coincidence that it happened the same day the car was worked on.
What are the odds of lightening striking twice?
