Brakes problem
2001 Other Plymouth Models 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 117000 miles

My rear passenger brake and/or tire is locking up. When it locks up it locks up for either 3-5 seconds or it will not release and I have to stop put the car in park and pull up on the emergency brake to release the tire. It mostly happens after making a turn or going over railroad tracks. At first it happened maybe 2-3 times a week, now it's happening 4-5 times in a 10 minute trip. It only locks up when i'm driving 10-30 miles. I would appreciate it if someone could get back to me about this soon. Thank you.

Hi:

it sounds like a spring or retainer has broken and allowing the shoes to move around. Remove the tire and drum and look for broken springs, retainers, brake fluid...

Let me know what you find.

Joe
