Shakes or Wobbles problem
2001 Nissan Xterra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 120000 miles

Start of problem: About 3 months ago I noticed while having my car on for a while that it was idling really rough when I would be at red lights or at a stop sign, the problem progressively got worse and the car began to stall at red lights and at low speeds. Then the jerking started while driving. The RPM would go up and down and then cause the car to stall. The problem became worse when driving down the road and my car would not go any faster than 10-20 mph with the gas pedal on the floor board. Had someone from auto shop with a handheld meter test the car and it read "Fuel air metering" I began to do all the cheap maintance as suggested... oil change, oil filter, fuel filter, fuel injector cleaner, system flush, spark plugs and wires, after all that the car was running great!! Then 5 miles into the trip the jerking began again, then we were unable to go over 10-20 mph again... With a close listen you could hear this air sound coming from the left side of the vehicle. We started to take things apart and located a part that a hose was not attached to the bottom, then when we removed the part it looked like something a burned a hole in it. Not sure as to what the part was we took it up to the auto store... it was the egr back pressure transducer. Could this part cause this big of a problem or is this just one of many to come? The part did look clogged as well. Any idea of a fair price for one or cost to fix it vs how hard it is to replace ourselves?
