Engine Performance problem
2001 GMC Yukon V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 35000 miles

My engine idles at 4 to 5000 RPM's. It sometimes dies. The MIL light does not come on, and there are no pending codes. When I press the accelerator, it will rev and run fine with no problems. In fact, it idles so low the A/C will not come on till it goes up to about 7000. I have a Silverado with the same engine and year. It idles at 7 to 8. Any suggestions?

Try cleaning the Idle Air Control Motor. Also clean out around the butterfly in the throttle bore with carb cleaner and a rag. This should help stabilize the idle.
