2001 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles

Hi, i have a 01 taurus ses and my rear passenger coil spring snapped and slashed my tire whats the safest way to remove and replace this(the coil not the tire)? Also my wiper motor stopped working completely and i found out that there was a recall on it, but does that still apply at my milage of 170,000+
