Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Chrysler LHS 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 75000 miles

A friend offered to check-out a used car for my girl friend. In the process, while in park he increased the engine speed, let off and increased it again several times...violently. He said he was testing to see if the motor mounts were okay. The engine moved when he accellerated the engine and moved back when he decellerated, but only slightly.
As an old pilot, I was always trained to take care of my machinery and it will take care of me. His "test" seem harmful to me, but I don't know what, if any harm it might cause.
Is this a recommended method of testing for bad motor mounts and can it cause damage if done to extreme?
