Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Chevy Suburban V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 132000 miles
Last night while driving home my 2001 chevy 2wd 1500 surburban started hesitating & acted like it was not getting fuel - went to gas station filled up with high test added a fuel treatment - started out but hard starting & got it to start in neutral - stopped at fast food parked in open spot looked for leaks - check under hood -oil, trans, water all ok everything was fine - started fine but about 15 miles down road heard 2 thumps car died and would not restart - tried but didn't - right before it stopped car just started hesitating and pushing gas pedal did not seem to help - no engine lights came on - having it towed home but hoping for some insight into problem so I have a clue as to what might be wrong (around 2 months ago same thing happened but started right back up ran ok but had some hesitation check eng lite came on then was told got bad gas by mechanic run good gas & a cleaner had no more problems after that until now) Thanks |

When is the last time you change the fuel filter? I suggest you check the fuel pressure, pressure should be 60-69psi. 59 is not good enough |

A plugged fuel filter will do exactly what you're describing, Or a leak fuel 30,000 miles ago, depending where you live if that is very humid You will have water in the fuel. checked the fuel pressure and let me know what it is. |

The mechanic called and said it was the fuel pump and he recommended replacing the fuel solinoid? at the same time as you have to pull the tank - he did not tell me the pressure but I hope it fixes it because the part is not cheap. It is very humid where we live, Thank u |

I am sorry I did not get to you sooner, I wish you would've checked the fuel pressure yourself, I think your mechanic is feeding you a line of $hit, especially if he would not tell you the fuel pressure. I am sure it was just the fuel filter considering your humidity factors. Changing the fuel pump solinoid would be a waste of time and money. |
