Brakes problem
2001 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 60,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
i own a 01 chevy lumina that recently went to the dealer because the front drivers side brake was dragging.
the dealer took the brakes apart and found nothing wrong...accept the rotor was glowing HOT!!!
and made the diagnosis that i was a two foot driver...NOT!!!
now this problem is intermitten in nature and also affects amount of brake pedal travel (reduces pedal travel)
i think the master or booster may be failing.
May create a steering pull and/or increased fuel consumption. Caused by weak or broken retracting springs on drum brakes, a jammed or corroded caliper piston, a floating caliper with badly corroded mounting pins or bushings (uneven pad wear between the inner and outer pads is a clue here), overextended drum brake self-adjusters or a sticky or frozen emergency brake cable.
