Electrical problem
2001 Buick Century 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 88,000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I get a 1374 code. It is an ignition problem. Car is hard to start then runs rough when it does run. However it runs great at times. Is this code the coil pack?

It's a crank sensor code. My information shows two crank sensors. I'd check the 7x sensor first, that sends the signal to the ignition module. Might be the sensor--wiring circuit or connector.
You might also check the other one.

Thank you for responding. I am in the middle of replacing the crank sensor behind the crankshaft pully. It looks like a 1/4 moon. The other one is cylinder like. Where does that one go?

You should have tried to do some testing, first. The code won't tell you if the problem is the sensor-- wiring circuit-- connector or whatever.
The magnetic reluctance crank sensor may be on the back side of the engine block, down low. The wiring harness goes to the ignition module. The ignition module is under the coil pack. There should be two wiring connectors on one end of the module, the smaller connector should be for that crank sensor, you can follow the wiring. The primary colors are purple and yellow.

Thanks again for responding. I am not that swavy when it comes to electrically testing components. My father in law, since retired from 30plus years of automotive repair, questions the fuel pump. He states that pressure could be low causing misfire codes. I will check pressure. Do you know the proper fuel pressue for such an engine. 3100 v6 buick centuy, 2000. I like that idea also due to the fact that it kinda runs only when gas pedal is pumped while engine is turning over. Then will kinda run only at higher rmps. Once at idle she dies.

Key On Engine Not running 52 to 59 PSI.
I am not certain about Buick, but I had a 3.9 Liter Ford that called for 35 PSI with the key on/ engine off. I found 30 (+/-) PSI at the port. THis engine would not start or run. When I replaced the pump, it run like a new one. I hope this helps.
