Hi, I was wondering what the difference between a regulator and motor is? My driver side window will not go up or down but all of the other windows work fine. It did go up and down about a 1/2 inch or so and made a whirring noise but now it is doing nothing and has started slipping downward.

The regulator is the mechanism that operates the window and the motor is a separate unit. You need a regulator as the cable is broken or detached.
