Air Conditioning problem

My car aircon is fine for short trips around town and for trips up to an hour or so, but thereafter, it loses effectiveness and starts to blow air that is no longer refrigerated. I took it to a aircon repair place where they apparently fixed a leak and regassed it, and I thought they had fixed the problem until I went on my first longer journey only to find the same probem. Cannot understand why it 'ts fine when I start up in the morning or if the car has been standing ( engine cold) but later loses effectiveness. Any advice would be appreciated
